2008 EventsKorea Postgraduate Discussion Forum The second Korea Postgraduate Discussion Forum will take place this coming *Thursday* *26th of June*. We hope that all who attended in May enjoyed the forum and this month will again present an opportunity for *Korean-English language exchange *through discussion on topics relating to Korean politics, culture and society and through presentations from participants relating to their own PhD topic. The first 45 minutes will give an opportunity to a Korean student to present on their PhD subject and lead a discussion, in English, on the issues surrounding their topic. It will also be an opportunity to ask for assistance in improving English presentation skills or to seek advice about a difficult paper etc. The remaining 45 minutes will involve a presentation on a PhD topic related to Korea, in Korean, by a Korean language learner who will then lead a discussion in Korean for all to join! This time we are very lucky to have Centre for Korean Studies Masters student Konrad Mathesius leading the Korean language discussion on '/Juche/' and Lee Seung-soo whose research interest is medical science who will lead the English language discussion on the topic of BSE, better known as 'Mad Cow Disease'. Remember that Korean students from non-Korean studies backgrounds will be especially welcome! This month our meeting will take place in the new *Hedley Bull Centre*, in the *Department of Political and Social Change Reading Room*, (4th floor, Rm 4.27). The discussion forum will take place from *4pm to 5.30pm and will be followed by drinks / dinner for anyone who can join! *Based on the first session, we will give feedback on language points after the presentations and if you have any other suggested improvements please let me know! All postgraduate students and staff welcome! Look forward to seeing you and please do not hesitate to contact Emma Campbell if you have any questions.
